India On The Winning Podiums

A gutsy Indian fight back ensured there were no hiccups in Bangalore, as Virat and Mahi helped India chase a 250+ score on the 4th day to wrap up the test series 2-0. Ganbhir and Sehwag gave a very quick start to the innings, scoring at over 6 runs an over and racing to 60 odd, before both departed in quick succession. Sachin and Pujara then put up another 50 odd, but three quick wickets left India tottering and in danger of a collapse. But unlike the 80s and early 90s, there was no further damage and some lusty hitting by Mahi and Virat ensured India quickly filled the gaps. While Kohli followed his first innings century with an unbeaten 50, Mahi brought in the victory with a huge six over mid on, reminiscent of the wonderful world cup victory shot.

What a wonderful Indian team!

Meanwhile, a resurgent, "new" Indian team also held off a much higher ranked Cameroon 2-2 and then scored in the penalty shootout to win the Nehru Cup yesterday.

Force India also saw a number 4 finish in Belgium.

Overall, good days for sport!
