Reismagos

The Reismagos Fort is situated at the mouth of the Mandovi River, offering beautiful views of the Panaji skyline, the river and Miramar and Reismagos beaches. This was the landing point of the Portuguese in Goa, and until recently, served as a jail. Now, beautifully restored from near ruins, this is a great option for a mini picnic, and the in-house museums provide rare glimpses into Goa's history and culture.

To get to Reismagos, take the coastal road from Verem to Nerul. You cannot miss it.

I will let the pics speak for themselves.

The magnificent tree below was a parasite that grew on a coconut tree, eventually strangling it. When the dead coconut tree caught fire in 2008, the tree lost its support and began to collapse. It was them trimmed and held with steel ropes, and a RCC column was cast in its hollow. The tree has now stabilized, and the stays were removed in 2010.

Note: My cousin Yogesh played an instrumental role in the renovation.
