Wierd Fruits

Saw two wierd fruits at our local fruit vendor today. First, a giant guava (see it in comparison to Sanam's hands!)...

And this, a yet-to-find-its-name cross between a tomato and a mango:

I am yet to find the courage to eat either of them!

OMG! The Guava is unusually bigger. Is it a shop in Pune? Are they kind of treated to get this size?

There was not one, but a whole carton of them - and this is actually the secomd time I have seen them. Imported. Yes, in Pune.

The second one is most likely a persimmon or fuyu (as they call it in Japan). Looks very juicy and stuff, but trust me the persimmon is an extremely tasteless fruit or atleast the one I had was like that. No classification, totally neutral in taste. Tell me what you think after you try it.

Ray, you were right. It's slimy and soft inside, and tastes like a tasteless mango with lots of fibres inside. First and last time I am eating it :)

The guava was great, by the way!

Can you give me the shop's address. I would want to have that Guava as well :)

Off Parihar Chowk in Aundh, there's a line of fruit and vegetable shops. This is the first shop, right next to the juice center, while approaching Parihar Chowk from Shivsagar side. This guy's been my fruit vendor for almost a decade now...

That's good news, it will be nearby. I can give it a shot this weekend! :)
