Racism or Cricket ?

TOI had this interesting question the other day... are the racist attacks in Australia somehow connected to India beating Australia at cricket?

Me thinks, VERY possible!

If the attacks were racial why south indians, pakistani, bangladeshi, Chinese, Korean students are not being attacked?

Given the skin color anyone but South people are more vulnerable to racial attacks. So are Chinese.

Unlikely to be unprovoked racial attacks. Even if they are racial attacks there must be something more to it.

That is not to say we should stop putting pressure on Oz to act against the attacks.

Still what hurts me most is that we have failed to develop a good higher education system in India and hence more and more students are leaving for abroad. :(

Akshar, coming to your first comment, this is precisely why I sad it's probably got to do with India unsettling the Aussies from the top spot in cricket!

And about the educational system, I am not sure it's lack of a good system in India that's luring students abroad. Except for a precious few that go to the real, worthy universities, most students go attracted by the promise of a foreign land, or, to get those easy-to-get-if-you-pay-enough fake degrees.
