Global Warming?

Everyone is talking of Global Warming these days - from the threat to low lying areas with rising sea levels, to irregular rain patterns, severe weather, and perishing glaciers...

Closer home, in Nerul, we were shocked to see the havoc wrecked by the sea on our very own favourite village beach. This article is a sad reminder of how turbulent and painful our relationship with nature can be.. or maybe, it's jus a reflection of how mankind is exploiting what he has, and in turn, paying the price for it!

More than 50 coconut trees were uprooted literally overnight, as the sea rushed in more than 10 meters to claim the land as it's own.

Tension writ large on the faces of my cousins, as they discuss the impact

A lone tree, devoid of life, gives up it's fight to survive.

Human greed doesn't even leave this poor fallen tree alone - within a day of the disaster, it's chopped mercilessly to make roof rafters for someone's home!

A fallen coconut tree, awaits it's inevitable fate.

And a similar sad fate awaits this beautiful tree.. even the Ganesha idol installed on the tree will not save it from certain uprooting.
